Ganguly and Dravid In Race for Team India Coach?

If reports are anything to go by, former Indian Cricket captain and batting great Sourav Ganguly is said to be front runner in the race for Team India's new Coach. Ganguly is apparently interested to replace incumbent Cricket Coach Duncan Fletcher whose tenure was ended after the World Cup 2015 and Dada reportedly expressed his interest to BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmia. Insiders of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) revealed that Ganguly and Dalmia discussed on the topic but the latter didn't give Ganguly any assurance.

Meanwhile, buzz has it that a section of the BCCI wants Rahul Dravid to join the race and willing to support Dravid for the job. Given that Dravid has already proved his mettle as a cricket coach for Rajasthan Royals mentor and coach, section of BCCI believes that Dravid would be apt to lead the young Team India.

However, BCCI sources made it clear that either Ganguly or Dravid has to apply for the job if they are really interested and only after applying it, they'll think about replacing existing coach Duncan Fletcher. On other hand, another section of the cricket board is interested to to continue with the existing set-up of a team director currently held by Ravi Shastri, with a relatively low-profile coach like Sanjay Bangar or Pravin Amre working under him. But if a high-profile coach is appointed, then the post of team director is likely to be done away with. Let's wait and watch what's going to happen next.
