Facts: Parashurama (who was the avatar of Lord Vishnu) came to destroy Earth’s burden & remove all kinds of evil existing. Fasting on this day is known to be very beneficial for everyone, however, it's a myth only because there is no evidence on any holy text that you should be taking fast on any festival or Jayanti.
